At Zyro we take care of a lot of the SEO features such as the website speed and sitemaps. However, there are a few things you can do yourself to boost your search engine rankings.

Meta titles and descriptions of your pages

Meta titles and descriptions are shown in the search results. The titles and descriptions should be clear and concise pieces of information about what exactly users can expect to find on your pages.

You can add meta titles and descriptions to all of your web pages at the SEO settings.

1. In your dashboard, click Manage.

2. Go to the SEO section on the left.

3. Select the page you want to edit and enter the page title and description.

4. Save the changes and update your website.

Note: The page title length should be up to 60 symbols (spaces included) and the description length should be up to 160 symbols (spaces included). You can also set preview images for each of your pages there.

Troubleshoot meta titles and descriptions

If you can't see the page titles updated in the browser tabs online, follow these steps to troubleshoot it:

  • Make sure to update your website.

  • Clear the browser's cache.

  • Check the website using incognito/private browsing window.

  • Open the website using another device (e.g., your smartphone, tablet, friend's PC).

  • Open the website using different networks (try Wi-Fi instead of mobile data or vice versa).

  • If all else fails, get in touch with the Zyro Success Team.

Keep in mind that it takes from 7 days to 4 weeks for these changes to be reflected in the Google search results. However, you can speed it up by using Google Search Console — learn more about it here 💡

Hide a page from search engines

If you don't want a particular page or a blog post to appear in search results, you can set it to be hidden in your website's SEO settings.

1. In your dashboard, click Manage.

2. Go to the SEO section on the left.

3. Find the page you want to hide and enable the option Hide page from search results.

4. Save the changes and update your website.

Alternative text for images

It's very important to have alternative text for images for SEO, as it will be used to make your website more accessible to everyone (e.g., people using screen readers).

Select the image you want to optimize for SEO and click on Change image.

In the image settings, insert a description of the image under Alt text. Your inserted text will be read for your website visitors who use screen readers.

Note: If you're running an online store, the alt text for the main product image is created automatically using the same text as given in the product title. If you'd like to add alt texts to all product images (not only the main one), get in touch, and we'll enable this option for you.
