Transferring a domain is moving it from one registrar to another. In other words, when you transfer a domain, you re-register it at another domain provider.
Useful to know: if you just want to use your domain on another platform, you can simply point the domain to the new service by updating the domain nameservers. In other words, if you have a domain that's registered on the X platform and want to use it on the Y platform, you don’t necessarily need to transfer the domain.
Transferring a domain to Zyro
Transferring domains to Zyro isn't supported at the moment, but you can easily transfer your domain to our parent company Hostinger.
If you decide to transfer your domain to Hostinger, you can be absolutely sure you'll be able to use your domain at Zyro. You'll only need to point the domain to Zyro servers 🎉
Transferring a domain away from Zyro
To transfer your domain away from Zyro, contact us, so we could guide you through the process. It would be great if you could specify the platform you want to transfer your domain to, so we could make the transition as smooth as possible!
General requirements for domain transfer
When transferring a domain from one registrar to another, one of the main requirements is that it’s been more than 60 days since the domain was registered or transferred previously.
If your domain is too young to be transferred, you may still clarify what all the domain transfer requirements are with your future registrar. For most domains and registrars they are as follows:
You have full ownership and control of the domain name that you want to transfer
It’s been more than 60 days since the domain was registered or transferred previously
The domain name is active (not suspended by the registry, not in the Redemption period)
The domain is unlocked at the current domain provider; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to unlock the domain
The domain privacy protection is disabled; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to have the privacy protection disabled
You have a valid EPP/Auth code given by your current domain provider; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to get the code
Pointing a domain to another platform
If you just want to use the domain on another platform, you may simply point your domain to their servers:
It’s free (meanwhile domain transfer is paid)
It’s faster (pointing relies on propagation which can take up to 24 hours, whereas the transfer may take up to several business days)
It’s a fairly simple process!
