General requirements for domain transfer

When transferring a domain from one registrar to another, one of the main requirements is that it’s been more than 60 days since the domain was purchased or transferred previously.

If your domain is still too young to be transferred, you can clarify what all the domain transfer requirements are with your future registrar. For most domains and registrars, they are as follows:

  • It’s been more than 60 days since the domain was purchased or transferred previously

  • The domain is unlocked at the current domain registration company

  • The domain privacy protection is disabled

  • You have a valid EPP/Auth code from your current registrar

If you just want to use the domain with another hosting provider, you can simply point your domain to their servers:

  • It’s free (while the transfer is paid)

  • It’s faster (pointing will be done in 24 hours, while the transfer takes up to 7 days)

  • It can be done instantly
