Domain transfer is equal to changing the domain provider. During the transfer, you simply re-register your domain at another platform.
Remember that no matter where your domain is registered, most of the time, you don't need to transfer it to use it on another platform. If you have a Zyro domain that you want to use at Hostinger, you can simply point it to Hostinger servers 💡
However, if you've decided to change the domain provider, follow the steps below:
Step 1 – Pre-transfer checks
Before you initiate a domain transfer, make sure that:
You have full ownership and control of the domain name that you want to transfer to Hostinger
It’s been more than 60 days since the domain was registered or transferred previously
The domain name is active (not suspended by the registry, not in the Redemption period)
The domain is unlocked at the current domain provider; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to unlock the domain
The domain privacy protection is disabled; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to have the privacy protection disabled
You have a valid EPP/Auth code given by your current domain provider; you may need to contact your domain provider's customer support to get the code
Step 2 – Initiate the transfer
To initiate the transfer, you need to:
Insert your domain name and click Transfer
Proceed with the payment
Enter the EPP code and initiate the transfer
Once you finish the order, the transfer process will be initiated. You will receive an email regarding the domain transfer. Don’t forget to confirm it ✅
After the transfer, your domain will be renewed for 1 year. This applies to gTLDs (generic TLDs such as .COM) and does not apply to ccTLDs (country-code TLDs) such as .CO.UK, .ES, .COM.BR, etc.
These are the most common domain transfer error messages and their solutions:
Seems like this domain is available for the registry. Would you like to register it?
The domain you inserted is currently not registered by anyone. Make sure to check the spelling as there could be a typo. If the domain name is correct, you can proceed with the purchase.
The domain is locked and cannot be transferred.
The domain is locked by the registrar. You may need to contact the appropriate support channel to unlock it.
If you have unlocked your domain recently, it could take up to a couple of hours for the change to take effect.
Sorry, this top-level domain cannot be transferred to Hostinger at the moment.
Hostinger is unable to support this TLD at present.
